What impact did slavery inflict upon the African-American Families of that era?
I need a answer within the next hour, because my google ant find anything related to it and the essay is due tomorrow.
One piece of info I can give: the CSA did not nationally recognize marriages of slaves (although the individual states may have given some recognition to marriage). Here is one incident I know of also: Harriet Tubman's husband, John Tubman, was a free man, while she was still a slave. She was apperently hoping to secure her emancipation through marrying him, and start helping slaves to escape, but he said he would blow the whistle on her if she tried, so they separated. Good luck.
